The club’s chairman, Ambrose Rachier, recently acknowledged his involvement in Freemasonry, and Gor Mahia has distanced itself from his actions.
The longtime football administrator acknowledged being a part of the hidden organisation in an exclusive interview with NTV on Sunday, emphasizing that it involved charitable endeavours rather than devil worship.
The club’s Executive Committee (EC) responded by stating that Rachier’s remarks were his personal viewpoint.
“The EC members, players, employees, and the Mighty Gor Mahia want to assure our fans we are not part of Freemason society and that our Chairman’s affiliation to that society is a personal journey as attested in the media,” said club Secretary General Sam Ochola.
Ocholla advised the supporters to be patient while the management seeks advice on the situation.
The EC is made up of Ocholla, Francis Wasuna, Dolphina Odhiambo and Rachier, who has been the club’s vice-chairman for 13 years.
In the 2020 elections, he was easily reelected to a fourth four-year term.
