Top African Actresses on Netflix Write Heartfelt Letters to Themselves

The leading actresses and stars from various African films on Netflix were invited by Africa on Netflix to write themselves a letter.

Khanyi Mbau from Young Famous and African, Osas Ighodaro from The Man of God, Melissa Kiplagat from Country Queen, Noxolo Dlamini from Silverton Siege, Rosemary Zimu from Savage Beauty, and Catherine Kamau (Kate the Actress) from Disconnect, poured their hearts out on paper writing touching letters that revealed an intimate side of themselves fans rarely get to see.

Some of them got emotional when writing letters to themselves reminiscing the struggles they went through before getting to where they are today.

Melissa Kiplagat recognized that she has gone through tough times and phenomenal times like being a mother and being in the Netflix series Country Queen. She encouraged herself to be herself and not to try and be somebody else. Her fans encouraged her in the comment section and showed their love.

Khanyi Mbau appreciated how she overcame her struggles with love, kindness, and warmth in a world that can be at times cold and cruel. Khanyi thanked herself for being patient with herself and admired how she lives her life loudly and boldly.

She thanked herself for not giving up even though they are challenges that she has to face. After she posted the full version of her self-written letter on Instagram her fans were proud of her and showed tremendous support.

“It’s always been your transparency and living your truth throughout your life embracing every stage boldly. You never came wanting to be this or that you came and created what every girl dreams to become.” One fan wrote.

Osas Ighodaro reminded herself that she is blessed and to live life to the fullest. She also told herself to appreciate the blessings coming her way. She also reminded herself that there were some highs and lows however, she managed to pass through them. Osas reminded herself that where she is now is just the beginning and there is more to come in the future.

Her letter inspired many of her fans. After she posted her letter through a video on Instagram her fans flooded the comment section with love and support.

“Your smile and joy are contagious. So proud of how far you have come. Love you so much, sis.” One fan wrote.

Catherine Kamau was not left behind. The Kenyan actress wrote that she is proud of herself for overcoming the self-sabotaging monster and urged herself to keep going for people are watching. She is also proud that she is living the life she prayed for and fantasized about.

She got emotional when reading the letter, she wrote to herself. Catherine’s fans on the comment section of her Instagram page told her that she was an inspiration to many. Many of her fans have seen where she came from and what she went through to become who she is today.

One fan wrote, “I just love you I knew you would cry, it’s the dark days that see the light and you girl have seen your light.”
