In a speech to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, September 21, in New York, President Biden condemned Vladimir Putin’s threats of invading his neighboring country and annexing their territories with coercion.

“Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations Charter by invading her neighbor and attempted to erase a sovereign state on the map,” Biden stated.

Following the violation of the core dogma of the UN Charter, Biden demanded an unequivocal ban on all nations that infringe on the rights of sovereign countries.

“No more important than the clear prohibition against countries taking the territory of their neighbor by force,” he added.

President Biden also denounced Putin’s threats over invading Ukraine with nuclear weapons.

His speech came hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin raised the threat of a nuclear response to the Ukraine conflict and the retaliation of 300,000 reservists to carry on the war.

He however accused the Russian government of organizing fake referenda as a weapon to garrison parts of Ukraine.

“Today, President Putin has made nuclear threats against Europe in a reckless disregard for the responsibilities of a non-proliferation regime.”

Biden added that “Russia is calling up more soldiers to join the fight and the Kremlin is organizing a sham referendum to try to annex parts of Ukraine an extremely significant violation of the UN Charter.”

Back to the genesis of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Vladimir Putin unleashed the biggest war in Europe since World War II with the justification that modern, Western-leaning Ukraine was a constant threat and Russia could not feel safe, develop and exist.

However, President Biden combats Putin’s hypothesis that Russia encountered threats that prompts them to react.

“Putin claims that he had to act because Russia was threatened but no one threatened Russia and no one other than Russia sought conflict,” Biden reacted to Putin’s allegations.

Because Ukraine is a sovereign country, Biden promised to stand with her to ensure it acquires liberty just like any other sovereign country in the world.

“Ukraine has the same rights that belong to every sovereign nation. We will stand in solidarity with Ukraine, we will stand in solidarity against Russia’s aggression period!” President Biden concluded his remarks.
