The military man was commended for his exceptional leadership that foresaw the staging and the success of the ASK and the Nairobi International Trade Fair.

Badi was also honored for anchoring Nairobi to become a city of investors through proper execution of functions and delivery of services.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua presented the award to Badi in the presence of other leaders and business persons.

“Badi was feted for his exemplary performance in implementation of county functions, making Nairobi a city of choice to invest in,” the NMS statement read in part.

The celebration happened just a day after Badi hosted Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and his deputy James Njoroge at International Trade Fair at Jamhuri Park Showgrounds.

The trade fair resumed on Monday, September 26, after a two-year break. The seven-day exhibition is a convergence point for trade, commerce, and knowledge sharing in both the agriculture and trade sectors.

NMS boss is expected to officially hand over the city functions to Sakaja on Friday, September 30.

“On Friday 30 September 2022, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, Director General, Lt. General Mohammed Badi will formally hand over all functions as per the Deed of Transfer to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja,” NMS stated.

The deed of transfer was signed on February 25, 2020, by then Governor Mike Sonko and then Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, with the blessings of Uhuru.

NMS took over Health, Transport, Public works, and Planning and Development Services from Nairobi county.
