Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential flagbearer, voted at Old Kibra Primary School in Kibra constituency.
An energized group of his supporters welcomed him and accompanied his motorcade to the venue.
Around 10:30 am, the ODM leader entered the polling place with his wife, Mama Ida Odinga, and several of his security personnel. He was taken through the voting procedure by poll workers and authorities.
Ida, his wife, cast her ballot in a different stream at the same voting place. He waited for her and held her hand as they walked in.
Odinga said he is convinced he will win the election because Kenyans “spoke strongly in favour of democratic change” earlier before leaving his residence in Karen.
“In terms of campaigns, we’ve done our best. Now that the ball is in their court, I have no doubt that Kenyans will speak out strongly in favour of a democratic change, “said he.
Meanwhile, Martha Karua, his running mate, voted in Gichugu early this morning.
William Ruto, Raila’s main competitor, and Rigathi Gachagua, his running mate, have already voted in Sugoi and Mathira, respectively.
David Mwaure, his other rival, also participated in the election at Nairobi’s Upperhill High School.
The fourth candidate, George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party, will have to wait though, as the polling place where he was scheduled to cast his ballot reported a KIEMS kit failure and required voters to wait until the issue was rectified.
