Senator Coons, who is leading a congressional delegation of US Senate and House Representatives, praised President Kenyatta for allowing peace and stability to withstand during and after the election period.

“We are encouraged by the peace Kenya has continued to experience during this period,” said Senator Coons.

The outgoing President confirmed that Kenya will remain steadfast in establishing the principles of good governance to allow the country to maintain its position as a shining example of democracy in the continent by upholding peace during this transition period.

“My greatest desire is that peace will prevail and we may set an example in the continent and the world,” President Kenyatta said.

Also present during the meeting were Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Rachelle Omamo, Betty Maina the Cabinet Secretary for Trade, and US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman among others.

Coons and his escort are also expected to have talks with conservationists, health providers, and organizations working to empower girls in Kenya, before proceeding to other four African nations.

Despite the US having not congratulated President-elect Ruto yet on his win on the ballot, the superpower has maintained that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) conducted the electoral process in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
