Zuckerberg Rolls Out New Monetizing Features for Facebook and Instagram Creators

Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, on Tuesday, June 21, revealed the tech giant will be rolling out more ways for creators to make money on Instagram and Facebook.

The Meta boss also said that in order to get more money directly to creators, Meta is going to keep paid online events, fan subscriptions, badges, and its upcoming independent news products for creators until 2024.

“Rolling out more ways for creators to make money on Facebook and Instagram, and sharing updates that will help creators build for the metaverse,” Zuckerberg’s post on Facebook read.

“More straight to creators, we’ll hold off on any revenue sharing on Facebook and Instagram until 2024. That includes paid online events, Subscriptions, Badges and Bulletin,” he said.

Meta notes that the creator marketplace allows brands to share new partnership opportunities. Once a brand finds a creator that they want to partner with, they can send project details to them.

“We’re heading towards a future where more people can do creative work they enjoy, and I want platforms like ours to play a role in making that happen,” He wrote.

Zuckerberg also revealed that there will be a partnership messaging folder within Instagram DMs where creators and brands will be able to filter through their offers and projects.

“We’re testing a set place on Instagram where creators can get discovered and paid and where brands can share new partnership opportunities,” he said.

Meta is also launching interoperable subscriptions to let creators give their paying subscribers on their platforms access to subscriber-only Facebook Groups, which lets creators receive payments from their fans on other platforms and offer access to exclusive features on Facebook.

“We’re opening up the Reels Play Bonus program to more creators on Facebook soon and letting creators cross-post their Instagram reels to Facebook,” he added.

The platform will also introduce a feature dubbed “Facebook Stars”. In the feature, Facebook is bringing back Stars Fest, a month-long celebration that started on June 15 and ends on July 15.
