Atwoli blames Ruto over skyrocketing fuel prices in Kenya

The COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli accused Deputy President William Ruto of being the root cause of the fuel price hike in the country.

Atwoli made these remarks while in Mombasa, where he joined other workers to mark International Domestic Workers Day.

“Ruto spearhead the ministry of energy after President Uhuru Kenyatta shared with him the authority to control the public departments. He assigned his own people whom he trusts to operate the offices as well as allocating the companies that supply fuel to the country. He should not keep on blaming the cost of living considering he is the source of all crises Kenyans are experiencing,” said Atwoli.

The COTU Secretary General further blamed the deputy president for appointing his cronies to the energy docket.

“If William Ruto is genuine to himself and to Kenyans and understands that the cost of living is high because of the perpetual increase of prices in fuel, let him negotiate with his suppliers to see how they will mitigate the high fluctuation of the price otherwise, we
shall narrow him down through due-diligence operation,
” said the COTU leader.

However, Atwoli has criticized the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi
accusing him to spread propaganda to the people instead of doing research and
understanding the root cause of the looming fuel prices.

“Musalia is heckling day by day, claiming that Uhuru is the man to be held responsible
for the increase in the cost of living. First, he must figure out how and who
licensed companies to supply fuel into the country,”
added Atwoli.

He has demanded that the deputy President clear up the deal with the fuel suppliers as
a way of easing the situation Kenyans undergo.

“He must negotiate with his suppliers and reach a reasonable consensus for the betterment
of our country and our people. Politics should not be included in matters that
directly affect the local mwananchi, he should find ways to help Kenyans to
live better lives,”
said Atwoli.

According to the COTU leader, Ruto will not gain any popularity in the Western region
considering that, he is the Luhya Kingpin and nobody can deceive or lure the
Luhya voters.

“In the western region, we decided to lock all votes and Ruto should not think of
winning in the Western part. Kenya Kwanza has no room to gather votes in the
Western and if he feels to has much to provide to his people, let him give
Moses Wetangu’la and Musalia Mudavadi enough share to stock,
” added Atwoli.
