Netflix has officially announced the release of the second season of the popular South-Korean show Squid Game.
The writer, director, and executive producer of the series Hwang Dong-Hyuk announced the renewal of season two, through the streaming and production company’s Instagram account on Sunday, June 12.
“After the first release of Squid Game season one in September 2021 which took 12 years to make but 12 days to become the most popular Netflix series ever. And now, Gi-hun returns. The frontman returns. Season two is coming. The man with the suit with ddakji might be back.” He wrote.

in their reply to the director’s post.
Hwang Dong-Hyuk also provided a little spoiler, revealing that Young-hee’s boyfriend will feature as one of the new characters in the second season of the Netflix series that took the world by storm.
“You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su,” the director wrote.
In the season two teaser trailer, which was released eight months ago, the audience is left curious as player 456, Seong Gi-hun, receives a phone call that appears to invite him to participate in the game as he prepares to board a plane.
Season one revolved around a contest in which 456 players, all of whom were in serious financial trouble, risked their lives to play a series of lethal children’s games for the chance to win $45.6 billion (Ksh4.2 billion) prize.
