Kenya Kwanza taskforce member Edward Mwachinga dies

Nairobi lawyer and Pamoja African Alliance Party (PAA) chairperson, Edward mwachinga, collapsed and died in his house on Tuesday, June 14.


Mwachinga was recently appointed to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance National Economic Task Force before his untimely demise.

He was eulogized by the Kenya Kwanza brigade including renowned hotelier Mohammed Hersi, who mourned him through his Facebook page, attributing him as a professional and genuine friend.

According to a family member, Mwachinga was diagnosed with a heart problem a year ago and had been receiving treatment in and out of the country.

“We lost him last night at about 11 pm. He had been diagnosed with a heart problem about one year ago,” said Emmanuel Washe, an uncle of Mwachinga.

Governor Kingi officially announced the death of Mwachinga through his Twitter handle, referring to him as a man who served as a great performer in his field of work.


“Saddened by the passing on of my brother & chairperson of the National Election Board of the PAA Party, Edward Mwachinga. Edward Mwachinga was recently appointed to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance National Economic Task Force where we envisaged immeasurable input from him,” Kingi tweeted.


The body has been moved to Montezuma Funeral Home as family and loved ones prepare for his final sendoff.


Apart from serving as PAA chairperson, Mwachinga was also a board member of Vipingo Development Limited, a subsidiary of Centum Limited.


Edward began his career as a tax advisor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2001. In 2004, Edward Mwachinga took up a management position with Deloitte in Tanzania, where he was instrumental in the development of the tax consultancy practice.

Prior to working as a tax advisor, Mwachinga worked with Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates, a member firm of Africa Legal Network, as an associate. Between 2009 – 2015, he was involved in providing taxation advice to East African governments and revenue authorities.
