Voters can verify their details by sending an SMS
to 70000.

The code is used to verify one’s details by
simply sending your Identification number or passport number, # then followed
by your year of birth.

Alternatively, one can use the IEBC web portal;
verified.iebc.or.ke.

The Independent,
Electoral, and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reaffirmed to the country that they
have put ground measures in ensuring that they produce restored and more
credible results come the August 9 elections.

Speaking with Switch Media, IEBC Commissioner Prof Abdi Yakub
Guliye immensely avowed that the commission is working hard to ensure that it
delivers a fair level playfield as well as respects Kenyan aspersions.

What is the state of preparedness of the IEBC in delivering
credible, fair and free elections?

The IEBC is working with election technology firms and other
stakeholders and has stockpiled enough kits in operating the exercise
appropriately.

IEBC is committed to adhering to the laws and regulations as
stipulated in the Kenyan Constitution under the election acts.

We have to continue committed to ensuring that we follow the
laws as per the elections acts and other relevant acts that are normally used.
Once we are prepared in terms of operations and we undertake them following our
commission procedures, we will undoubtedly say that the results will be fair
and credible enough.

Kenyans should understand that the election exercise is not
meant for IEBC, instead, it is an activity that involves around all Kenyans
across the country and that requires massive input and participation for better
upshots.

The
response comes alongside the tendency of politicians to file vote-rigging cases
in court as claiming petitions regarding unsatisfied results after every
election.

We should all understand that an election is a national exercise
and everybody should support the commission to undertake the entire election
exercise fairly without any objections around.

What does the verification of the registered voters entail and
what has been the response based on the report from the verification exercise?

The IEBC called for Kenyans to undertake vote verification
before the incoming election.

According
to the Commission, the exercise is operational for 60 days before the elections
as contemplated in the Kenyan constitution under election Acts.

We have signified the verification activity as a program that
allows all Kenyans to verify their database details before heading to the
elections.

The verification exercise is firmly important to all Kenyans as
it provokes pandemonium that rise in polling stations when fingerprints fail to
release particulars on the biometric machines.

Once a voter is encrypted into that course, the commission is
delivering a foul back where one will be required to file a claim sheet, an
exercise that he indicated to be conducted immediately after June 2 when the
verification activity will have been closed.

Our polling stations have been provided with enough kits that
can serve all voters in verifying their details and ensuring if the
fingerprints work.

We have provided an SMS code of 70000. The code is used to
verify one’s details by simply sending your Identification number or passport
number, # then followed by your year of birth. Alternatively, one can use the
IEBC web portal; verified.iebc.or.ke.

It is also advised to go to the polling
centres to verify your fingerprints, a service that is offered free of charge.

What next after the verification process in the electoral
calendar?

The IEBC confirmed to awarded Greek-Based firms a tender to
deliver ballot papers for the incoming general election.

The
exercise is cited to commence immediately after the commission is done
registering the candidates vying in different elective positions.

Once we get satisfied with the Greek firm’s operations, it will
officially submit the contract to the firm ready for processing.

We have to look into the register that entails registered
candidates are revisited and verified, it will then be gazette to the Kenyan
gazette an exercise that will commence next week as per the election calendar.
