Linda Mwananchi supporters began gathering in Nairobi’s Central Business District early Sunday, setting the stage for a day of political mobilisation led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Some supporters arrived as early as 8am, carrying placards, whistles and Kenyan flags. Groups gathered around Tom Mboya Street and outside All Saints Cathedral as they waited for the day’s programme to begin.
The crowd danced and sang as more people arrived, giving parts of the city a lively and highly charged atmosphere.

A sizeable group assembled outside All Saints Cathedral ahead of a scheduled church service at 9am.
The supporters were waiting for the procession to begin after the service before moving through several parts of Nairobi.
Sifuna was expected to lead the tour alongside Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and former nominated senator Millicent Omanga.
Police officers were also visible in parts of the CBD as authorities prepared for the procession.
Tour to pass through city markets
From All Saints Cathedral, the group was expected to move towards Marikiti and Gikomba markets before proceeding to Burma Market.
The planned route also included Stage 17, B Centre and Manyanja, with the procession then expected to head along Jogoo Road towards Jacaranda Grounds.
The day was scheduled to end with a rally at Jacaranda Grounds, where Sifuna was expected to address supporters.
The mobilisation comes as political groups begin positioning themselves ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election.

For Sifuna and Linda Mwananchi, the Nairobi tour offers an opportunity to gauge their ability to draw supporters in the capital and take their message directly to residents in markets and busy neighbourhoods.
The senator has been urging supporters to turn out for what organisers have described as a major rally.
The gathering also comes amid increased political activity among opposition figures, with different groups seeking to build support ahead of the next election.
While the turnout was growing through the morning, the full scale of the mobilisation was expected to become clearer as the procession moved through Nairobi and reached Jacaranda Grounds.
