Elliot Anderson has arrived at Manchester City. The England midfielder has signed a five-year contract. The move was completed after his World Cup campaign.
A reported £116 million fee was paid to Nottingham Forest. It made Anderson City’s record signing at the time. The 23-year-old has now joined one of England’s most successful clubs.
‘Kings of Manchester’
Anderson has already looked towards the derby. Manchester City will face Manchester United on September 13. The match will be played at Old Trafford. Anderson called it one of football’s biggest derbies.
He also made his feelings about the rivalry clear.
“For as long as I’ve known Manchester, City have been the kings of Manchester,” he said.

Anderson said he was “over the moon” to join City. He praised the club’s winning culture.

Anderson’s rise has been rapid in recent years. He came through Newcastle United’s academy. A move to Nottingham Forest was then completed in 2024. He went on to make 92 appearances for Forest. His performances earned him an England call-up.

Anderson has not hidden his belief in his own potential.
“I’m only 23,” he said. “I’ve got plenty of time to get to my best levels.”
