Kenya is set to host a historic global gathering as it co-chairs the Africa Forward Summit: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth alongside France.
The high-level summit will take place in Nairobi on May 11–12, 2026, attracting the President of the French Republic alongside African Heads of State and Government.
This marks a significant milestone in Africa-France relations, coming nearly a decade after the landmark Ouagadougou speech by the French President that redefined engagement with the African continent.
First-of-Its-Kind Summit with an English-Speaking Host
The Nairobi summit is unique as it will be the first Africa-France summit co-hosted with an English-speaking country, underscoring Kenya’s growing diplomatic and economic influence.
The initiative reflects a shift toward balanced and mutually beneficial partnerships, focused on strengthening economic development through shared opportunities.
The Africa Forward Summit will bring together a wide array of stakeholders, including governments, private sector leaders, youth, artists, civil society organizations, and diaspora communities.
Groundwork for Upcoming G7 Summit in France
Key outcomes from the Africa Forward Summit are expected to shape preparations for the upcoming G7 Summit to be hosted in Evian, France, from June 15–17, 2026.
Kenya has been invited to participate in the G7, underscoring its rising global profile and strategic partnership with France, further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
