Tanzanian Bongo artist Diamond Platnumz is reported to have made Ksh11.9 million during his electrifying performance at the Azimio la Umoja finale rally, in just 10 minutes.
Visiting the country with his daughter Princess Tiffah, he was picked up in an Azimio-branded helicopter at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and flown to Kasarani Stadium.
He then sang his hit songs “Waah” and “Baba Lao”, thereafter enticed supporters in attendance to vote for Raila and his running mate Martha Karua, just like he did for the former late Tanzanian President, John Magufuli.
According to the Daily Nation, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was the driving force behind the entire performance arrangement, as he planned and executed it.

The performance, on the other hand, attracted varying reactions, from those who believed Raila chose a Tanzanian musician as his head artist at the rally rather than a local one, even though he seeks votes from them as well.
A majority of top Kenyan artists, however, backed the action taken by the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga, revealing that the brief performance would have cost them a number of fans who support a different party.
In an interview with Mseto, Khaligraph Jones revealed that he never conducts political performances because he respects his fans who support various political parties.
“Sifanyi show ya siasa mimi.
However, musicians such as Juliani were dissatisfied with Raila’s choice, even labeling Diamond’s performance distasteful. A term that did not sit well with many.
