Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly challenged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to clearly state his political intentions, escalating tensions between the two leaders.
In his latest remarks, Salasya said he has no personal problem with Sifuna but accused him of lacking transparency about his long-term goals.
“Mimi sina shida na Edwin Sifuna, but Sifuna stop being a coward and stop hiding behind ‘Linda Mwananchi’ rallies and be straight with Kenyans, especially the youth. They are giving you this spotlight and attention,” wrote Salasya.
“You should tell us your real goal. Is it reclaiming your ODM SG position? Taking over as party leader? Or eyeing the presidency in 2027? Tell us!”
Spotlight on ‘Linda Mwananchi’ Rallies
Salasya questioned the true motive behind the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ rallies, which have drawn significant attention, particularly among young voters. He suggested that the gatherings may be part of a broader political strategy rather than purely civic engagement.
The Mumias East legislator argued that Kenyan youth, who form a significant portion of rally attendees, deserve clarity on what Sifuna ultimately seeks.
2027 Succession Politics in Focus
The remarks come amid growing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election. Within the Orange Democratic Movement, leadership dynamics continue to generate debate, with discussions around party positions and future presidential ambitions gaining traction.
While Sifuna has not formally declared any of these intentions, his recent political activities have sparked conversation among supporters and critics alike.
