Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata Takes Leave From Office After Heel Injury

Irungu Kang’ata

The Murang’a County Government has announced that Governor Irungu Kang’ata will be temporarily absent from physical office engagements after sustaining a heel tendon injury.

According to an official statement, Governor Kang’ata was attending a high-level meeting in Nairobi organized by Nutrition International, a Canadian government-supported organization.

The institution partners with Murang’a County and other devolved units to implement critical nutritional and public health programmes.

During the meeting, the Governor reportedly tripped and injured his heel tendons.

Following medical assessment, he is currently undergoing treatment and has been advised to remain away from physical engagements for approximately one month to allow for full recovery.

Deputy Governor Stephen Munania to Step In

During the Governor’s recovery period, leadership continuity has been assured.

Where physical presence is required, Deputy Governor Stephen Munania will represent the Governor at official functions.

In designated cases, the County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Prof. Kiarie, will handle specific engagements as appropriate.

However, Governor Kang’ata will continue to chair and participate in official meetings virtually beginning Monday.
