The SportPesa League enters Round 4 this weekend with action spread across three
days, headlined by traditional giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, alongside early
pacesetters Shabana.
The round kicks off Friday at Dandora Stadium with a double-header. Sofapaka will
square off against Kakamega Homeboyz in the early kickoff before AFC Leopards face
in-form Posta Rangers.
Ingwe are still searching for their first victory of the season, having opened their
campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sofapaka at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
A Boniface Munyendo equalizer spared Fred Mbani’s men from defeat, but with two
winless outings, pressure is already mounting.
Posta Rangers, however, present a tough assignment. The Mailmen are flying high after
winning their first two fixtures, sitting joint top of the table.
On Saturday, Bandari will welcome Murang’a Seal to the KPA Sports Club in Mombasa
in the sole Saturday fixture. Both sides will be keen to build early momentum before the
table starts to take shape.
The league’s biggest clashes come on Sunday as record 21-time champions Gor Mahia
will lock horns with KCB at Dandora Stadium.
K’Ogalo finally got their season going last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Sofapaka,
inspired by an Ebenezer Adukwa brace.
Charles Akonnor’s men will be eager to back it up, but they face a bankers’ side that has
two wins from three games and look determined to maintain their strong start.
At Kasarani Stadium, struggling Tusker welcome early leaders Shabana in what could
be the weekend’s most intriguing tie.
The Brewers, without a win in three outings (two losses and a draw), are desperate to
turn their fortunes around.
Shabana, on the other hand, are riding high at the summit with a perfect two wins from
two, and will be aiming to pile more misery on the Brewers.
Elsewhere, defending champions Kenya Police travel to Kericho Green Stadium for a
clash with newly promoted APS Bomet, while Mathare United host Kariobangi Sharks at
Kasarani Annex in a Nairobi derby.
