Diana Marua has spoken publicly about her co-parenting arrangement with Yvette Obura, the mother of her husband Bahati’s first child. Her message was clear: respect and forgiveness can make even the most delicate relationships work.
In a candid interview posted on YouTube on Thursday, Ms Marua, a socialite and reality television figure, described how she and Ms Obura have chosen to put peace before pride.

“The foundation of the good relationship between me and Mama Mueni is respect,” Ms Marua said, using Ms Obura’s title as mother to Bahati’s daughter. “Mama Mueni respects me and my marriage, and I respect her in return.”
The two women, once linked by tension, now communicate openly about the child they are raising in separate households. Ms Marua explained that Ms Obura often speaks with her directly when issues concerning Mueni arise. “We have good communication, and everything is based on respect,” she said, noting that she sometimes redirects Ms Obura to her husband for final decisions.
Their cooperation, she added, rests on clarity and honesty. “Ending a relationship is never easy, but life happens, and we choose to forgive whatever has happened,” Ms Marua said.

Both women, she stressed, are focused on giving Mueni a stable upbringing without public quarrels. “It is about respect, forgiveness, and focusing on raising the child well,” she said.
Rejecting rumours of any lingering discord, Ms Marua was firm: “Whoever we bring into this world, Mueni or anyone else, we must nurture the child so that they grow up well. Having said that, there are no more complications.”
Their story offers a rare example of civility in situations often clouded by rivalry. For Ms Marua and Ms Obura, the child remains the priority.
