Azziad Nasenya, one of Kenya’s most recognisable media personalities, has brushed aside fresh claims about her finances with a playful video that left fans divided.
The actress and TikTok star, best known for her breakout role in Selina and the viral hit Utawezana, was accused this week of defaulting on a mortgage tied to her Kileleshwa apartment. Reports suggested the property was headed for auction.
Rather than confirm or deny the story, Nasenya took to Instagram with a tongue-in-cheek response.
“I have been seeing people in my DMs asking me for tea,” she told her followers. “So today, I will show you how to make flavoured tea.”
She then launched into a mock recipe, turning the supposed scandal into a performance.
The video quickly spread online, igniting both criticism and support. Some accused her of deflecting. Others praised her refusal to bow to public pressure.

“She’s trying too hard to show us she’s fine but she’s burning inside,” wrote one user. Another countered: “People should just mind their own business.”
It is not the first time the 24-year-old actress has been linked to money troubles. In March, a WhatsApp audio surfaced, said to feature her voice, requesting 85,000 shillings while stranded in Nigeria. Her reply was characteristically sharp.
“Anything you hear, anything you see, please believe it,” she said at the time. “I am busy working. I do not have time to start clearing anything. Jibambe.”
Similar claims have come from fellow influencers. Two TikTokers alleged she borrowed 300,000 shillings, a debt a fan later covered. Another, Madollar, said she owed him 3.5 million shillings, of which she allegedly repaid most.
Through it all, Nasenya has kept her stance: no direct denials, no confirmations. Just humour and confidence.
