Politics is a game of interest in Kenya or in other words it is a company. Parties with same interest join hands to counter the opponents` parties.When politicians are working closely with the government, they praises it.They don’t talk about the evils or faults of that government.That moment they are evicted out of office, this is when they start spilling off the beans. They now tells us how the government have been gearing corruption and extra-judicial killings and abductions. This is the time when they tells us how the government have failed in addressing the economy and how best it should have been handled.
Good examples are the current president when he was still the deputy president during Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime. The moiment he was evicted out of office,he explained the challenges that led to the failures of their campaign manifestos for example, laptops and stadia in all the 47 counties. Ruto,who was the deputy President by then, blamed the entry of ODM leader Raila Odinga into the government for ruining all their plans they had for Kenya.
Another example is the immediate former Deputy president Hon. Rigadhi Gachagua. After realizing that they had different interests in “SHARE HOLDING”, He was removed from the office for being too tribal in his politics. Hon. Gachagua is now opposing every agenda of the government.
From the Adani deals to the health, to fertilizer scandals, the list is long. In all these i have come into a conclusion that when it’s your turn to benefit you keep quiet and do your best to defend the government in power in its atrocities. ODM party is a good example. These guys used to be be brilliant and smart MPs one could admire little did we know that they were just hungry that’s why they were making a lot of noise when they were in the opposition side but now they are defending a regime that has failed its citizens. I have come to realize that one can betray their supporters when it comes to fulfilling their personal interests.
In all these, voters always find themselves filling the heat. Once the politicians are electected into the office, they forget about the interests of their supporters until they complete their 5 years tenure. For now, we are just playgrounds just like the famous Swahili proverb has it: “Fahali wawili wakipigana nyasi ndio uhumia”. We are the nyasi here and if we are not careful come 2027,we will again make the same mistakes by electing hyenas to take care of the goats and when the goats are eaten,we wonder why.
