Arsenal have confirmed the signing of 21-year-old defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, adding depth and versatility to their backline ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Cristhian Mosquera, who is capable of playing both as a central defender and right-back, becomes the club’s fifth arrival this summer. The Gunners have already brought in goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, and winger Noni Madueke.Cristhian Mosquera will wear the No. 3 jersey. Speaking during his unveiling, he said the decision to join Arsenal was clear once the opportunity came.
“It’s an opportunity that came up and I couldn’t let it pass me by,” Mosquera said. “I’m joining a historic, massive club. When you arrive here with your family, you really feel the greatness of this place.”
Born in Alicante, Spain, on June 27, 2004, Mosquera joined Valencia’s youth academy in 2016. He made his senior debut for the club in January 2022 during a Copa del Rey fixture, becoming the youngest center-back to feature for Valencia’s first team. That same month, he earned his first LaLiga appearance. Over the past two seasons, Mosquera has anchored Valencia’s defense, racking up 90 senior appearances across all competitions.
Cristhian Mosquera has also played for Spain at multiple youth levels and was part of the national squad that secured gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mosquera could make his debut for Arsenal on July 27 in a preseason clash against Newcastle United in Singapore. The Gunners begin their Premier League campaign away to Manchester United on August 17.
The signing reinforces Arsenal’s ambitions ahead of a competitive domestic and European campaign. Club sources have not ruled out further additions, with forward Viktor Gyokeres still linked to the club.
