Is The Revolution a Fluke or A Gathering Storm?

“They will not believe; they will not believe! Wengi watavunja televisheni!” Atwoli’s booming voice as he foretold the outcome of the 2022 elections best describes the emotions that went through the country’s revolutionaries over a weekend packed with political drama and betrayals.
Kenya is currently undergoing a political metamorphosis which some pundits have described as a make-or-break period as allegations of the executive’s influence over other arms of the government are rife, especially the legislature and the highest court of the land.

The forced passing of the finance bill 2024 despite wide public rejection and the impeachment of DP Gachagua contrary to the results of the public participation, whose petition to challenge the senate decision is currently in the court has blown a wide hole into the integrity of the August House.

Kenyans have woken over the past months and realized that they are their defenders in the fight for justice and respect for the rule of law, blowing the whistle on corrupt deals, particularly the Adani Deal, crowd auditing of government financial statements and crowdfunding to sponsor litigations in court challenging unlawful policies.

However, despite this positive reaction to the issues ailing our nation, revelations that have come out about compromised revolutionary footsoldiers, have raised questions about the credibility and progress of the movement.

Outspoken individuals who have been at the forefront of calling out impunity, particularly across X and other social media platforms have been exposed to be part of a campaign driven by PR Company Oxygene Marketing and Communication.

Influencers among them Janet Machuka, Soko Analyst Pius Kinuthia, John Ngeru, and MjengoKE who have been outspoken in the struggle were exposed to be playing both sides, further mounting questions on the credibility of most of the front liners.

Initially, the outspoken Kasmuel Mcoure who was compared to Tom Mboya reincarnate also been exposed to sleeping with the oppressors after the Bomas of Kenya Fiasco exposed him. The list is endless.

The country is currently hanging on the precipice of doom due to the blatant disregard for the rule of law by officeholders and the increased cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings of not only ordinary citizens but also of political leaders.

Yesterday, October 21, the country’s populace was horror-struck by the splotch on our international image when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement confirming the repatriation of 4 nationals of the Republic of Turkey at the request of the Turkish government despite the four having refugee status.

The four were initially abducted by state machinery, contrary to the criminal procedure code which makes it mandatory that you can only arrest someone with Court Warrants or extradite someone to a foreign country with Extradition Warrants. However, this is the modus operandi of the current regime.

Will the revolution go all the way to save us from the dogs?

To echo the words of Lawyer Donald B Kipkorir, History has always taught us that no matter how much Power or Wealth we accumulate, without HUMILITY & KIND SOUL, it is all transient! HUBRIS makes one fly to the sun with wings of wax! ALL IS VANITY!
