Businesswoman and media sensation Betty Kyallo recalls meeting her ex-husband Dennis Okari for the first time.
They came across each other while working at KTN, where Betty was seeking to establish herself as a media personality after recently joining the company.
The mother of one claims that she first met Okari while studying how to anchor the news.
Despite not knowing how to use an autocue, she claimed that she had always wanted to read the news. Okari stepped in and assisted her.
Betty acknowledged that her baby daddy made significant contributions to her profession and it’s how their relationship blossomed.
“I could not read the autocue so Dennis Okari, my ex was the one who actually helped me read the autocue. I think that is how we fell in love. I used to go to the studio and practice so many times and everyone was like Betty you have it,
“He coached me well. He was the one who actually taught me to do it. I have a lot of gratitude toward Dennis for helping me when I was starting out my anchoring career. But I gave him a daughter,” she said.
The two celebrated their nuptials in a vibrant celebration on October 2, 2015, at Marula Manor in Karen, Nairobi. The two had dated for six years before the wedding.
Sadly, Betty and Okari separated six months after getting hitched, with Betty blaming their split on hasty marriage.
“I think it was getting married a bit young. I was 26 and I think I hadn’t seen my full potential, I hadn’t lived life, I hadn’t explored life by myself and there is no issue with that,
“It wasn’t a mistake, mistake but if I was to redo that part of my life, probably, I would have waited a bit. I should have chilled, I should have waited,” remarked Kyallo in a previous interview.
Betty admitted that she is not in a rush to be married again and is trusting God to provide the ideal spouse in the wake of her failed marriage to Okari.
“But right now, I have grown as a woman, I understand myself and I now know what I want. I’m ready to mend my ways so I also get my ring. But now, I’m not in a hurry. Whoever God will send my way is who I will settle with,” she said.
Okari married Naomi Joy after his divorce. Betty said that she was glad about her ex-husband’s new marriage.
“You don’t need to put a brave face in public but behind closed doors, you two are not okay. I chose to be happy and I’m even happy for him,” Betty said.
