Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), a leading manufacturer of Building Solutions and a member of the Safal Group in partnership with the Association of Construction Managers of Kenya launched the annual student competition aimed at upskilling students to gain relevant sector skills, on 13th September,2023.
The ACMK Students’ Competition aims to engage Construction Management Students across Kenyan universities by challenging them to apply knowledge acquired academically to solving real-time project issues.
“We are excited to continue to partner with ACMK on this initiative,” said Rittah Okello, Marketing Manager, Relations.
“We believe in the potential of the next generation of construction professionals, and this competition will enable them to showcase projects that have used sustainable innovation including MRM’s building solutions, ” Rittah added.

The competition is a transformative experience that not only enriches students’ education but also prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of the construction industry, helping them utilize the skills learned to become more well-rounded and capable professionals.
“We are thrilled and grateful for our continued collaboration with MRM on this competition,” said Ilbert Abiri Chairperson, ACMK.
“It provides students a unique platform to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world construction practices. We believe this competition will not only empower students but also contribute to innovation within our industry, ” he added.
In addition, the student competition holds this competition annually as a way of contributing to the student’s body of knowledge and bridging the gap between class theory and practical experience.
For the winners, the 1st position group will win 30,000ksh plus each member will be given a first position certificate. The 2nd and 3rd winners will be given 20,000ksh and 15,000 Ksh respectively plus a second and third position certificate for each group member consecutively.

Further, the competition is open to students from various universities such as : The University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Technical University of Kenya and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University.
The Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK) is a professional body for all project and construction managers who have come together to promote the professional practice of construction and project management.
