The Azimio Coalition has announced that the protests against the high cost of living are to continue next Wednesday.
The announcement was made at a press briefing at the SKM Command Centre on Saturday. Azimio leaders who were present said that the protests to be held the next week would be peaceful.
Mwangi wa Iria, Usawa wa Wote Party Leader, said that the opposition is not willing to engage with the Kenya Kwanza government. He went ahead to mention that there were sufficient repurcussions that were suffered by the citizens due to interactions.
” Our peaceful demonstrations will continue next Wednesday and we will notify all OCSs in the country,” he said.
Wa Iria went ahead to condemn the police attacks on civilians during the demonstrations. He added that a few of the Azimio leaders were being targetted by the police officers during the protests.
In addition to that, Kalonzo Musyoka, Wiper leader, addressed the matter of meeting envoys during the presser. He said that the American British, Danish and UN representatives and ambassadors arrived at his residence but they agreed not to talk to the press.
“They were very concerned that peaceful demos turned violent.” He continued.
Kalonzo further stated that Raila, Martha, and Wycliffe Oparanya sent their apologies as they could not attend the press briefing.
The apologies froim Raila come few hours after his statement of him battling an flu necessitating his absence. he went ahead to adress the rumors of his meeting with envoys as false.

Kalonzo demanded the immediate release of all Azimio leaders and supporters that are still being detained. During the three day protests, Azimio MPs, MCAs and other supporters were arrested by the police.
One of thise detained was Babu Owino, who was presented before the court and relased on bail. Nine other protesters hpowever pled guilty to destruction of property and are likely to face charges.
