Marriage is one of the most beautiful human institutions. Marriage can be the most hazardous duo ever if two are not getting along at all. You have heard of the many talks and saying, love is not enough. Chemistry alone is not enough character is needed. True, one would ask, what then is enough?
Here are a few things to talk about before deciding to settle.
Live together. Before you get married, it’s a good idea to live together for a while. This will give you a chance to see how you get along daily and to work out any kinks in your relationship.
Make time for each other. Once you’re married, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But it’s important to make time for each other so that your relationship doesn’t suffer the pain of distance, no one-on-one communication, bond, and touch.
Talk about your expectations. What do you expect from your marriage? What are your hopes and dreams for the future? It’s important to be on the same page about your expectations so that you can both work towards achieving them together. The goal of knowing each other’s expectations is to support each other and not force one into your ideas.
Understand each other’s values. What are the things that are most important to you in life? It’s important to make sure that you and your partner share the same values, or at least that you can respect each other’s values even if they’re different.
Deal with conflict. How do you handle conflict? Are you able to communicate your feelings healthily? Can you resolve disagreements without resorting to yelling or name-calling? It’s important to be able to deal with conflict healthily so that you can work through problems together.

Talk about money. How do you handle your finances? Are you good at saving? Do you have debt? It’s important to be on the same page about money before you get married, or else it could lead to problems down the road.
The last two have proven not to be easy for many families. It would require accountability and responsibility to ensure that agreement and understanding is reached.
Remember these are just but a few things to do and talk about. Remember, love is a beautiful thing and love covers a multitude of sins.
