On Sunday, The Secret Service had to evacuate the White House after they discovered a ‘suspicious’ white substance in the West Wing of the house’s common area where the president is said to frequent.
According to media sources, a preliminary examination of the suspicious powder that was discovered in the White House on Sunday revealed that it was in fact cocaine. The suspicious substance was discovered while President Biden and his family were away from the White House and at Camp David. They returned to the White House on Tuesday, a day after the substance was found.

The substance was found when the president’s security team was performing their routine checks around the White House and emergency response teams were called to conduct further testing. The Secret Service issued a statement announcing the closure of the White House to tourists as emergency response teams tested the substance to prevent a hazard as the West Wing of the White House is also accessible to tourists.
On Sunday evening, the White House complex went into a precautionary closure as officers from the Secret Service Uniformed Division investigated an unknown item found inside a work area.

The Oval Office, the cabinet room, and the press area, as well as the offices and workspace for the president’s staff, are all located in the West Wing, which is annexed to the executive residence where US President Joe Biden resides.

There is an active investigation going on to determine how the cocaine got into the White House despite the amount of security in the area. The president’s 53-year-old son Hunter Biden, whose prior addiction to crack cocaine had been widely reported is said to have been in the White House premises before the family left for Camp David.
