Ciru Muriuki, today, took to her Instagram page to announce that she was recently laid off from her job at BBC.
Ciru spent roughly a year working as the morning show host for K24 before leaving to work for BBC.
In a five-minute reel posted on the page, the journalist said that the international media house retrenched her because they wanted to take a different direction in their business, making her role at the company redundant.

She also went on to acknowledge that there is no shame in acknowledging that an individual has lost their job, especially in these tough economic times. In the reel, she talks about the struggles that she has faced since her retrenchment including losing weight and changing her lifestyle.
The journalist said that she hopes to get into content creation and talk to her followers about the struggles involved in being ‘jobless in this economy’. She is looking into other opportunities to generate income for herself.
