the first leg saw City win 3-0 before Haaland’s composed finish in the 57th minute effectively confirmed his side’s place in the last four for a third year in a row.
The Norwegian fired a first-half penalty over the bar and despite Joshua Kimmich making it 1-1 on the night with a late spot-kick (83), it was the job done for Pep Guardiola’s team.
City will first have to overcome current holders and 14-time winners Real Madrid, who beat Chelsea 4-0 on aggregate in their quarter-final.
Pep was knocked out by the Spanish champions at the semi-final stage last year after falling victim to one of the greatest European comebacks.
As for Bayern, a dramatic turnaround against City was always unlikely and they exit the quarter-finals for a third consecutive season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport:
“Of course, three years in a row in the semi-finals of the Champions League
”We struggled in the first half. Upamecano broke all the lines down our left side and we struggled with Coman. We were fortunate before the penalty miss, they had one or two chances and anything could happen but we defended really well.
“The finishing from Erling was really, really good. He is so young. The experience that we have in this competition, the players feel it a lot, they want to do it really well. The second half was much, much better since minute one.
“We are exhausted. I don’t know how we recover to play against Sheffield United [in the FA Cup semi-final]. Now is a tough moment for the game on Saturday.”
Inter edge past Benfica to set Milan derby in the semifinal
Inter drew 3-3 with Benfica to win their Champions League quarter-final 5-3 on an aggregate and will face city rivals AC Milan in the last four making it the first Italian team to reach the final for six years.
Inter took the lead in the 13th minute with a brilliant strike by Nicolo Barella from inside the box, however, Benfica equalised in the 38th minute through a towering header from Fredrik Aursnes.
Inter opened up a two-goal lead after the break as Lautaro Martinez and substitute Joaquin Correa scored within seven minutes, but defender Antonio Silva and substitute Petar Musa hit back with two late goals for Benfica.
It was not enough to deny Inter their first semi-final appearance since they won the trophy for the third time in 2010.
