Rally Driver Maxine Wahome has been under DCI investigation since December 2022 after the alleged murder of her boyfriend, a fellow rally driver named Assad Khan
On Tuesday rally driver Maxine Wahome was arraigned in court to face murder charges. Justice Lilian Mutende ordered her detainment in Kilimani until she is formally charged on March 15. In order to determine whether she is qualified to face trial, the court ordered that she undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
In the ruling Justice Mutende said, “This being your first arraignment, you are not required to plead to the charge filed against you by the DPP. The information states that you are charged with the murder of Khan on December 12 at Preston Court, Kileleshwa Nairobi County. You are not required to answer until you undergo mental assessment.”
Justice Mutende rejected a request from Maxine’s attorneys, Steve Kimathi and Anderson Musangi, to allow her to continue to benefit from the bond conditions set by the lower court.
On Friday, Maxine has been released to deal with the current legal matter, according to WRC Safari Rally Kenya. Part of the statement reads, “Following the recent legal developments concerning Maxine Wahome, the WRC Safari Rally Kenya has decided to release Maxine from further engagements in the Young Rally Stars program to deal with the legal developments.”
