Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba failed to show up on time for a team meal prompting head coach Massimiliano Allegri to drop him ahead of their Thursday clash with Freiburg
Paul Pogba will miss Juventus’ crucial UEFA Europa League Round of 16 fixture against German side SC Freiburg on Thursday night. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus officials backed Allegri’s decision.
Juventus are out of the Serie A title race after 15 points were axed from their tally for breaching Italian football financial regulations. Their best way back to the UEFA Champions League is by winning the Europa League for automatic qualification. The Bianconeri have a tough task and are 7th in Serie A.
Juventus have lost only three games in 2023 with the most recent coming this Sunday by Jose Mourinho’s Roma. The France international, who was out for the World Cup as well due to injury, was glad to be back on the field when he came on in the Turin derby last week, aiding Allegri and company in securing a 4-2 victory over their neighbors Torino.
Coach Allegri said, ” It had been a long time we wanted Pogba back with us and we are happy. With a game every three days, we need everyone available. Pogba, however, won’t be in action against Freiburg.”
