Chelsea host Borussia Dortmund at Stamford Bridge trailing 1-0; Benfica host Club Brugge with a 2-0 advantage in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League
On Tuesday, Chelsea look to turn things around when they face Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. Adeyemi with a solo goal, from his half, and of course that celebration sealed the win for Dortmund in the first leg at the Signal Iduna Park.
As reported by Standard.co.uk Adeyemi suffered a hamstring injury in the first leg in the 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin, 4 days after facing Chelsea. The Blues gave a good performance in Germany, they had the chances to score and even win the fixture but their conversion has been dismal this season, averaging less than a goal per game.
Chelsea ended a poor run of form after a Saturday win over Leeds United in the Premier League, albeit from another hard-fought win (1-0).
In the buildup to the Champions League fixture, Potter has noted Kante’s absence but also highlighted it is ‘exciting’ to have the Frenchman back with the squad,
“It’s a special occasion for us to try to get into the last eight of the Champions League. We’ve had some games where we could’ve scored more than one and we need that performance tomorrow night.
“We’re playing against a top team, a team that is in a good place with the wins they’ve had. The boys are in a good place and are motivated. We want to give it our best.”
Borussia Dortmund come into the fixture on the back of an impressive run of form, winning 10 competitive matches in a row for the first time since August 2021. In those 10 matches, BVB have 11 different scorers.
