Three suspects have been arrested by police in Kisumu County after they were found in possession of Elephant tusks worth over Ksh 500,000.
Wilson Korio, a Kenyan citizen, was arrested alongside Tanzanians Jakaya Mchubo Paswa and Lemintiye Mbukoti.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said through a statement made on Tuesday, December 27, that 52-year-old Wilson Korio was arrested together with Tanzanian Nationals-Jakaya Mchubo Paswa (42), and Lemintiye Mbukoti (27), after they were in possession of Eight pieces of Elephant Tusks weighing 16 Kg.
DCI says the detention comes after detectives in Kisumu received information from the sources, and then collaborated with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel to make the arrest.

A statement written by the Investigative Unit stated that “They headed to Mamboleo where the arrest of the Three was affected’’.

The Fourth suspect who is said to have attempted to rescue his Collaborators was shot in the arms in the process before he sped off on a motorbike. The suspects will remain in custody pending arraignment on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
