Senators will on Tuesday, December 20 hold a meeting to discuss the impeachment motion against Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza in Nairobi’s Senate Chamber.
The special sitting was ordered by Speaker Amason Kingi following the submission of impeachment documents by the Meru County Assembly Speaker Solomon Bundi.
In a notice dated December 17, Speaker Kingi said that the lawmakers will assemble on Tuesday, at 2.30 pm East African Time in the Senate Chambers to discuss the matter.

During the voting process in the County Assembly, 67 out of 69 MCAs voted to outsit Kawira Mwangaza from office over an alleged violation of her Constitutional Powers.
The tabled impeachment motion in November this year was Sponsored by Abogeta West Member of County Assembly Dennis Kiogora.

It is either a plenary where the parties will be allowed to defend and or lay their case before the whole House before a vote is undertaken, or they may decide to form a committee which will be made up of 11 members to probe the matter.

In the Senate House, at least 24 Senators of the 47 will be required to Approve the resolution either approving or rejecting the Impeachment.
On the other hand, both the Senate and the National Assembly are currently on a long vacation which ends on February 14, 2023.
