Brazil Outshines South Korea On Their Way to the 2022 Qatar World Cup Quarter Finals

World Cup

With Neymar back in the starting lineup, Brazil produced a dazzling performance and looks like the team to beat heading to the Quater Finals of the World Cup

A historic night for Brazil’s Neymar as they beat South Korea in the 2022 Qatar World Cup Round of 16. Neymar was just one of the key elements in a convincing display by the Seleção.

All the damage was done in the first half, with all of Brazil’s goals scored in the first 45. Vinicius Junior, with a controlled finish, set the tone for the Brazilian dance. In just seven minutes, a cross from Barcelona’s Raphinha met Real Madrid’s Vinicius who scored with great aplomb.

Neymar doubled the lead less than five minutes later after Richarlison was brought down in the penalty area. As cool as Neymar should be the new phrase as the PSG forward wrong-footed South Korea goalkeeper, Kim Seung-gyu, making his mark after returning from injury. 🥶

Neymar’s 76th goal for Brazil brings him one short of Brazil legend Pele’s all-time record.

Richarlison, who now seems to only score screamers, played his part in the team by securing a third goal for Brazil. A work of art, controlling the ball thrice with his head, and foot, before getting into position for Thiago Silva’s through ball and scoring with ease.

In the 36th minute, West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá scored Brazil’s fourth goal. A dazzling first-half performance that also included a celebratory dance with Head Coach Tite. 🕺🏾

Brazil were also solid in defense as goalkeeper Alisson put in a great performance, making several crucial saves. To add to the fantastic show at Stadium 974, Paik Seung-ho pulled one back for South Korea in the 76th minute, but the damage had already been done.

Brazil’s trademark play, full of flair and freedom of expression, produce the results needed and they have qualified for the Quarter Finals against Croatia on Friday, 9th December at the Education City Stadium.

In a moving gesture, Brazil’s players showed support for the legendary Pele. According to DailyMail, Pele’s daughters have assured soccer fans that he is in recovery following his admission to the hospital to treat a respiratory infection that was aggravated by Covid.
