Marcus Rashford paid tribute to his “idol,” Cristiano Ronaldo following his departure from Manchester United, thanking him for his input to the club.
The 37-year-old was officially released from his contract on Tuesday after both parties agreed to end it in the aftermath of his now-infamous explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo burned bridges with United and manager Erik ten Hag in an explosive interview, claiming he was repeatedly disrespected by the club.
United will now look to sign a new striker in the January transfer window to compensate for the loss of the Portuguese forward, with Rashford among those tasked with leading the line for the remainder of the season.

Despite the bitter nature of his departure, Rashford had nothing but positive things to say about Ronaldo when asked about him on Sunday afternoon.
“It has been an unbelievable experience to play with him,” Rashford told reporters from England’s camp in Qatar. “He is one of my idols and someone I always looked up to. It’s something I can keep with me forever. I wish him all the best and we want to thank him for the things he’s done for Manchester United.”
