Kilifi County Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) Gubernatorial Candidate, George Kithi, startled the Kilifi residents after publicly announcing that he has no relationship with the PAA Party boss, Amason Jeffah Kingi.During the gubernatorial debate spearheaded by the KTN news yesterday at Pwani University, Kithi, a former Kilifi County legal advisor vehemently said that he has never worked nor been closer with the outgoing Governor, and that he has no idea about the suffering Kilifi residents endure.
His controversial statement comes amid questions over why Ganze residents experience hunger and live a destitute life despite him coming from the same zone.
“I have not worked with Governor Amason Kingi because Kingi works in Kilifi while I am working in Nairobi. I can substantiate it by submitting the relevant working documents to justify my assertion,” said Kithi.
He added that he worked sporadically as a Kilifi County lawyer representing just a few numbers of cases, unlike the allegations from his opponents that he has been working as a full-time servant of Kingi.
“For the benefit of the doubt, I want to state it clear that I worked as a Kilifi County lawyer for a few cases just like any other lawyer in the country. Your statement is unrealistic because I had no mutual relationship with governor Kingi,” he added.
Kithi is contesting against six opponents including Azimio La Umoja candidate Gideon Maitha Mung’aro, UDA candidate Aisha Jumwa Katana, and Safina Party Candidate Engineer Dzombo Mbaru, Independent Candidate Franco Esposito Kasoso Baya, Ford-Kenya Candidate Michael Tinga, and USP candidate David Noti.
However, out of seven, three missed yesterday’s debate. Aisha Jumwa, Kasoso Baya, and David Noti did not turn out despite the invitation sent to them.
“We sent out our invitation to all the seven candidates for governor asking to be part of this debate and some of them are here with us tonight,” KTN news revealed.
