A man who was reportedly participating in a binge-drinking competition, while getting recorded in a video that has now gone viral has died.The man, who is claimed to be a South African in his early thirties or late twenties, downed a complete bottle of Jagermeister in less than two minutes and died as a result.The deceased was cheered on and applauded by bystanders in the video, but things took a turn after he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.On Wednesday, police in Waterval, Limpopo, launched investigations into the incident that led to the death of the unknown man.The incident occurred at a local liquor establishment in the Mashamba village, where patrons participated in drinking competitions for a reward of R200 (about KSh1,400), to the winner.

“One of them immediately collapsed thereafter and was taken to the local clinic, where he was certified dead,” Limpopo police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo told reporters.“The winner who could consume the entire bottle of Jägermeister within a specified time would get R200 cash,” he added.Jägermeister is a German digestif brewed with 60 herbs and spices and containing 35% alcohol by volume, presented in its signature green glass bottle.
