Cristiano Ronaldo smashed a fan’s phone in April and is now facing a two-match ban should he return to the Premier League.
After the final whistle of the Premier League match between Manchester United and Everton in April 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to have hit an Everton fan’s phone as he went down the tunnel following a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Following the incident the FA fined Ronaldo and according to SkySports, an independent panel handed him the £50,000 (Ksh 7,357,738.50) fine. On November 8, during an independent hearing Ronaldo’s attempt at avoiding a ban was downplayed as it was noted that his actions were an “act born of frustration and annoyance rather than fear or concern for his wellbeing.”
Ronaldo was also handed a 2-match domestic ban which will be transferred to his new club should he return to the Premier League after the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The charge comes just a day after he ‘mutually terminated‘ his contract with Manchester United.
Portugal face Ghana on Thursday and Ronaldo is expected to captain the side after what has been a week of drastic change.
