Relief for Kenyans as Fuel Prices Drop by Ksh1

Fuel prices have marginally dropped by Ksh1 per litre in the latest review announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority-EPRA.

A litre of petrol will now retail at Ksh177.30, diesel at Ksh162, and Kerosene at Ksh145.94 from Tuesday, November 15 to December 14, 2022.

In the statement released on Monday, November 14, EPRA said that the reduction is for Super Petrol, diesel, and Kerosene respectively.

 “The price of Diesel has been Cross-Subsidized with that of Super Petrol while a subsidy of Ksh17.68 a litre has been maintained for Kerosene in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices,” director general Daniel Kiptoo stated.

Kiptoo said that the government will use the Petroleum Development Levy to compensate Oil Marketing Companies for the difference in cost.

The price change comes even as the landed cost of fuel declined in the previous month of significance.

The average landed cost of petrol decreased by 5.60 percent from $726.77-Ksh 88,629.60 per cubic meter in the month of September to $686.05 -Ksh83,663.80 per cubic meter in the month of October 2022.
