Manchester United will face FC Barcelona for a place in the round of 16 in the Europa League. Two historic clubs as well as some European giants in the play-off
Manchester United’s 1-0 away win against Spanish outfit Real Sociedad means the ‘Red Devils’ will face familiar foes eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, in the Europa League play-offs.
Real Sociedad topped Group E by just a one-goal difference with Manchester United. United will now face Xavi’s team- a team seeking redemption. Speaking after the play-off draw on Monday, the FC Barcelona manager said, “We will have to compete, going to Manchester against a really top rival and a historic side which has grown a lot with the arrival of (Erik) Ten Hag.”
In their most recent encounter, FC Barcelona hammered Manchester United 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2019 UEFA Champions League. A lot has changed since but this is still one of football’s biggest rivalries.
