Liz Truss, the Shortest serving U.K Prime Minister

LIZ TRUSS RESIGNATION

The newly elected British Prime Minister, Liz Truss on Thursday, September 20 announced her resignation in Downing Street London.

Liz has only served the country for 45 days after being declared a winner by the Conservative Party on September 5 with total votes of 81,326.

Truss’s resignation was a result of what is largely regarded as her incapacity, and inability to sell her vision not only to parliamentarians from her Conservative Party but also to the general people, currency, and bond traders in London.

She also blamed the war between Russia and Ukraine for economic hardship in the UK.

“Given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party,” she said in front of the prime minister’s residence at Downing Street on Thursday. “I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the king to notify him that I am resigning.”

Her resignation comes a day after her utterances that she is a fighter and not a quitter in politics.

Truss met with the chair of the 1922 Committee, the only person who would have known how many letters of no confidence had been written in her leadership.

The U.K is expected to elect a new prime minister next week.
