Kenyans Show Love as ‘Single Kiasi’ Season 2 Set To Premiere in 2023

Do Kenyans love good local content? Yes, and without a doubt. A boosted celebrity cast raises anticipation for the Showmax series, ‘Single Kiasi’, Season 2.

‘Single Kiasi’ Director Grace Kahaki has shared her excitement saying, “Single Kiasi season one surpassed all our expectations by being one of the most-watched titles on Showmax for 13 weeks straight. The show is an absolute testament that Kenyans want and support good local content where they see themselves reflected. As Insignia Productions, we’re very thankful for the reception the show has received and we’re excited to give our audience a bigger and better season two.”

The drama series is centered around marriage, relationships, and career challenges. The main characters are three women- Mariah, Sintamei, and Rebecca.

New Star-studded Cast

The hit drama series Season 1 premiered on Showmax in January this year. Produced by Insignia Productions, and co-directed by Grace Kahaki and Philippe Bresson, ‘Single Kiasi’ became the second Showmax Original series in Kenya after the legal drama, Crime and Justice.

The second season will feature new additions including the legendary actor, director, and singer, Ian Mbugua, well-known for House of Lungula(2013) and Tusker Project Fame(2006). Grace Wacuka (A New Christmas) will also feature as Olivia alongside Mufasa Kibet aka Mufasa Poet (Crime and Justice), Ciku Shire (Famous), Quincy Rapando (Zora), and Fidel Maithya (Selina)

Other stars who featured in Season 1 and are set to make a return include main stars Gathoni Mutua, Minne Kariuki, and Faith Kibathi. Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Walter Bruce Opiyo, Derek Bbanga, Maggie Kiundi, and Kevin Maina are also set to make a return.

What’s In Store?

Season 2 is expected to revolve around themes such as self-acceptance, loyalty, and forgiveness. The new cast selection also hints at humor, adventure, and enchantment.
