Uasin Gishu Women Represantative Gladys Boss Shollei emerged the winner defeating Farah Maalim in the National Assembly deputy speaker election.

Members of the legislature cast their votes on August 8 at the National Assembly House, where Shollei garnered 198 votes against Farah Maalim’s 139 in the first round.

Maalim acknowledged loss in the second round of voting, which was held in the house since the winning candidate had to obtain 233 out of 349 votes, or 2/3 of the vote, to win in the first round.
