An air of celebration and colour filled Motor Sport today as female staff at the Kenya Red Cross gathered for a Ladies’ Lunch to mark International Women’s Day. Coordinated by Grace Waigumo, the event offered a moment to pause, connect, and reflect on women’s contributions at work and at home. Guests donned vibrant Ankara outfits, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Ms. Angela, one of the key speakers during the event, encouraged the women to embrace their value and assert their priorities.

“You are important, your time, your energy, your voice they all matter. Saying no or putting yourself first does not make you selfish,” she said.

She also spoke about the often unseen duties women carry out, remembering family commitments, managing household tasks, and supporting others, and reminded the audience that these efforts are meaningful but should not overshadow self-care.

Christine Muriuki, who is the Human Resourse Manager at the Kenya Redcross, further commended the organizers, speakers, and attendees for taking their time to celebrate together and empower each other.

After the end of the formal session, a hearty lunch followed. Conversation flowed, laughter rang out, and staff shared stories, personal experiences as they enjoyed the delicious meal.

For those present, the event was more than a gathering, it was a powerful reminder that recognition, self-care, and celebration are essential for women in every sphere of life.
