The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been urged to urgently resolve its internal disputes and refocus its energies on consolidating parliamentary strength, in what appears to be a fresh rallying call for unity within the party.
In a post on X, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina cautioned against internal divisions, arguing that political infighting weakens the party’s bargaining power and influence.
Ledama warned that voices pushing for top positions during moments of perceived weakness risk undermining the party’s broader agenda. He described such demands as “shortsighted” and potentially detrimental to ODM’s long-term political standing.
“In realist wisdom, ODM must first crush internal wrangles to seize parliamentary supremacy,” he stated, emphasizing that internal cohesion is key to achieving meaningful political leverage.
According to the senator, unity within the party is not merely symbolic but strategic, a prerequisite for commanding influence in Parliament and effectively representing supporters’ interests.
Ledama’s remarks signal growing concern among senior members that unresolved internal battles could erode the party’s negotiating power at a critical political moment.
“Our united strength alone earns the influence our people demand. Wake up ODM!” he declared.
The statement comes amid heightened political realignments within the party with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna being ousted from his Secretary General position before a tribunal stop the removal.
