The National Police Service (NPS) has issued an update on ongoing investigations into recent security incidents across the country, including events reported at Witima Church last month and disturbances at other public gatherings.
In a press release dated February 15, 2026, the Office of the Inspector General confirmed that investigations were promptly initiated following reports of alleged criminal activity.
Statements Recorded, Footage Reviewed
According to the statement signed by Director of Corporate Communication and Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, officers have already recorded statements, reviewed available footage, and analysed intelligence to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and identify those responsible.
The Service emphasized that investigations are being conducted strictly in accordance with the law.
The NPS underscored that the speed and success of criminal investigations heavily depend on formal reporting, detailed witness accounts, and cooperation from complainants and members of the public.
While preliminary inquiries have been undertaken based on publicly available information, the Service noted that comprehensive investigations require affected persons and witnesses to record official statements. This, it said, is crucial in enabling evidence-based conclusions and potential prosecutions.
The police have appealed to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist investigating officers.
