The National Police Service (NPS) has launched an immediate investigation following a security incident that occurred during the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) event in Wajir County.
The event was attended by President William Samoei Ruto, who was the chief guest at the youth empowerment forum.
Safety of President and Public Not Compromised
In a press statement issued from NPS Headquarters, the Service assured Kenyans that at no point was the safety of the President, other dignitaries, or members of the public compromised.
According to the statement, the Presidential Security Team and officers deployed on the ground acted swiftly and professionally to de-escalate the situation and restore order.
“The individual involved was swiftly apprehended, and the event proceeded without further interruption,” the statement read.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has constituted a special team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the inquiry expected to be completed within three days.
The police service reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, especially during high-profile national events.
