Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto’s administration following allegations of a massive Sh11 billion looting scandal at the Social Health Authority (SHA), declaring that Kenya is fast losing its moral and institutional compass.
“We do not have a country, bwana. Ruto must go,” Sifuna said, as public outrage mounts over the claims.
Audit Uncovers Alleged Large-Scale Fraud at SHA
According to a report by Daily Nation, a Ministry of Health audit revealed at least Sh11 billion was siphoned from the Social Health Authority between October 2024 and April 2025 through fraudulent claims.
The audit revealed that several private health facilities exaggerated treatment costs and, in some cases, billed the government for medical procedures that were never conducted.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale is reported to have confirmed that decisive action had been taken against those implicated with at least 40 rogue medics sanctioned, according to reports.
The government had injected Sh75 billion in the past 14 months alone.
For Sifuna and other opposition leaders, the scandal is symptomatic of deeper governance failures, calling for the removal of President Ruto’s ‘regime.
